About NIPERs
The National Institute(s) of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs)
have been established under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers,
Government of India, Department of Pharmaceuticals, as centers of excellence
for imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical
sciences. The first NIPER at S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali was established in 1998, and the
Institute was declared as an Institute of National Importance by the Government
of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on 26th June 1998. During 2007 -08,
six new NIPERs were established at Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad,
Kolkata, and Raebareli. These institutes are members of the Association of Indian
Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.
